Oldham Council’s latest “Oldham Project” will employ two domestic abuse experts to implement a very worrying set of priorities as a borough wide domestic abuse strategy which is to focus on victim & perpetrator relationship management. Apparently this will safely enable victim & perpetrator to stay together, it would seen that maintaining the family unit thus reducing the cost of intervention, security, housing & benefits is taking priority over victim’s welfare. We have never heard of a women’s domestic abuse refuge who’s priority is “safely” enabling people to stay together in an abusive relationship or how you can define safely in the face of a predisposition to physical violence or mental abuse.
