The Labour Council’s new house building policies are making Oldham a no go area for developers

Despite Oldham Council lauding Oldham as a desirable location to live and work new house price figures reflect Oldham Council’s continued house building policies in socially undesirable areas rather than suggestions of value for money as the average purchase price of new build homes fell by 17.8% in the period January to June 2014 from the same period in 2013. This is more than double the fall for new house prices than has been seen in any other district in Greater Manchester.
Keepmoat Homes in partnership with Oldham Council is proposing to develop 134 homes for sale in Limehurst. After mid bid clarification meetings were offered to enable bidders to ask additional questions relating to the project both Seddon Construction & Casey Contracting withdrew from the bidding process unwilling to take sales risk in the area.
