Service cutting Oldham Council plans to have the council chambers & QE Hall refurbished

Service cutting Oldham Council has allocated an undisclosed sum of public money to secure survey and investigation services to have the council chambers & QE Hall refurbished. The Council chambers & QE Hall refurbishment was originally supposed to be provided as part of the Hotel Future deal and that scheme has already had undisclosed amounts spent on multiple surveys, business plans, market & economic feasibility studies and architectural designs by Oldham Council.

“In order to progress the Queen Elizabeth Hall and Council Chamber refurbishment, to approve revenue funding in order to:
i.Procure a series of surveys and investigations using the available Scape Framework;
ii.Appoint a cost consultant initially to RIBA Stage 2 (concept design) to provide cost services, and
iii.In principle agreement to the commissioning of later stages undertaken by the cost consultant, subject to future release of funding;
iv.Appoint a Business Modelling consultant to undertake a market and economic feasibility study, and
v.In principle agreement to the commissioning of later supplemental work undertaken by the Business Modelling consultant subject to requirement and future release of funding.”
