Oldham Council is to re-name Cromwell Street, Oldham as University Way, the Council states “This to reflect the Council’s ambitions to create a “Campus Oldham” approach to the area stretching from the Regional Science Centre and the Sixth Form Centre along King Street and Rochdale Road to the Oldham College and the former Grange School Site.” Ironic that Oldham Council thinks changing the name of a road will change peoples perception of Oldham Town Centre and that this “Campus Oldham” area also includes the new Oldham Town Centre leisure/sports centre which clearly has been built in the style of and located as such to serve the educational campuses rather than the tax payers of Oldham who will ultimately be expected to repay the PFI loans that built it.
