According to Oldham Labour Council’s latest published housing strategy for 2015-18 a shortage of homes in Oldham can be linked to it’s aging population. Whereas factual statistics show that Oldham has a lower percentage of people 65 & above than over 3/4 of all UK Parliamentary Constituency areas. In direct comparison the latest government statistics show that Oldham has the highest birth rate & migrant percentage increase in all Greater Manchester & is in the top 5% of all UK areas for family tax credit claims, none of which warranted a mention & clearly has no effect on housing or economic prosperity in Oldham.
