Oldham Council’s town centre district heating network will cost at least £120 million

I see the papers have recently been reporting on Oldham Council’s plans for huge expansion of the current St Mary’s district heat network across the entire town centre as being a £27 million scheme yet council documents actually show the full cost of their plans will cost £120 million. Note how this scheme which will benefit the council and the town centre but not the rest of the borough will be their major project for achieving carbon neutrality for the entire borough. Ironic using the legacy of Oldhams industrial past to provide cheap heating just for areas where less than 50% of adults work.
