Religious zealot and independent councillor Aftab Hussain who states his religion comes before everything else has changed sides and joined the Labour Party. People do change allegiances but this is an Oldham councillor took current council leader Arooj Shah’s St Mary’s seat in 2016 after a campaign aimed at discrediting her by appealing to the right wing misogynistic and homophobic views of devout Muslim voters in the ward. Arooj Shah has welcomed councillor Hussain into the Labour family with open arms despite his religious bigotry, misogynistic campaign against her and a previous leaflet campaign with discriminatory views targeting the LGBTQ+ community reported by the Oldham Labour Party. The reason Arooj Shah and Aftab Hussain are now besties is their direct links with career criminal Mohammed Imran Ali aka Irish Immy who despite being independent councillor Aftab Hussain’s polling agent at the 2023 local elections was also at Arooj Shah’s side canvassing for the Labour Party at every opportunity. Using a violent a career criminal as a means to gather male votes within religious communities displays just how unfit Arooj Shah is to hold any political position and shows complete disrespect for the family and friends of murdered Oldham police officer PC Nicola Hughes. Arooj and her inner circle should be investigated by the Labour Party executive for misconduct.
